Daniel Barnett, CSCS

Daniel has over 16 years of personal training experience, with over 20 years of personal experience in strength training & conditioning. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science & Sports Medicine from the University of Louisville (1998). He earned the title of Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) in 1999. Daniel has been a professional member of the NSCA and a member of the Kentucky Strength and Conditioning Association (KYSCA) since 1999.  Daniel won the Kentuckiana Health Fitness magazine’s People’s Choice Award for Best Personal Trainer in 2004. Daniel was hired in February of 2000 as Louisville Metro Police Department’s Fitness Instructor and earned an Exceptional Merit award for outstanding performance for his work with the Police Recruit classes’ physical training program. He is also a Certified Police Instructor with the Kentucky Law Enforcement Council, teaching subjects such as Strength & Cardiovascular Training, Nutrition, Stress, and Body Composition. Daniel has maintained his CPR/First Aid certification since 1999. He acquired his CrossFit Level 1 Certification in February 09 and is the owner of CrossFit Louisville East as well as Advantage Fitness, llc.

William J. Walker, CSCS

CrossFit Level 1 Certified

William began training at Advantage Fitness in December 2008 after completing a 20 year career in the U.S. Army. A retired Master Sergeant, William had the opportunity during his time in the military to conduct extensive physical training with ever changing conditions and standards with up to 165 soldiers at a time. William was the Army Physical Fitness Test Award winner at both the Primary Leadership Development Course and the Basic Non Commissioned Officers Course and finished second at the Advanced Non Commissioned Officers Course. William graduated from the University of Louisville in 2007 with a B.S. in Occupational Training and Development with a focus on Instructional Design and Training; he became a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the NSCA in February 2009 and is also CPR and AED certified through the American Heart Association. In addition to conducting one on one Personal Training, Boot Camps and other Group Training at Advantage, William is also the Strength and Conditioning Coach and handles the Sprinters, Jumpers and Throwers for the Eastern High School Track and Field team.

Brian Bennett

USA Weightlifting Level 1 Sports Performance Coach

Brian Bennett has been an avid athlete all his life excelling in many areas of training and fitness. As a distance runner he excelled in cross country and track for both Murray State University and the University of Louisville and consistently finished in the top five percent of the field. As an assistant coach, he took Seneca High School’s cross country team to their first appearance in the Kentucky state cross country championships. He also has coached several years of youth soccer at the YMCA as well as coaching and managing several adult indoor soccer teams.

Brian has been strength training for over 15 years. His passion for teaching sports and fitness has brought him to Advantage Fitness. He instills his hard work ethics, focus on technique and drive into the classes he teaches.  Brian has attend both the CrossFit Level 1 and CrossFit Kettlebell Certifications.

Andrew Hogan,

CrossFit Level 1 Certified

Andrew began his athletic career in high school at St. Xavier as a Track and Cross Country Athlete. After high school he became a Firefighter/EMT with the Louisville Division of Fire which led him to enhance his overall fitness regiment with an expanded focus in strength training.  After 15 years of strength training, Andrew was introduced to Crossfit type workouts through a Navy SEAL website in Oct. ‘08.  In Feb. ‘09, Andrew came to Crossfit Louisville East and in July ‘09 he received his Crossfit Level 1 Certification at Rogue Fitness in Gahanna, OH.

JoEllyn McAtee

ACSM CPT

USA Weightlifting Level 1 Sports Performance Coach

JoEllyn started her athletic career running track at Christian Academy of Louisville.  She then went on to run NCAA Division I Track at both University of Louisville and Liberty University.  She earned her certification with the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) in 2008 and in that same year graduated with a Kinesiology degree from Liberty University.  JoEllyn has also been CPR certified since 2005 and AED certified since 2008.  JoEllyn currently teaches Physical Education at Christian Academy of Louisville while teaching bootcamps, CrossFit classes, and personal training sessions.

Lindy Barber

Lindy began training at Advantage Fitness in May 2009 after having completed two years of education at the University of Dayton studying to get her Masters degree in Exercise Science. She is a certified personal trainer through the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA) and has been an enthusiast of fitness her whole life. Growing up in Louisville, she has played competitive soccer starting at the age of 3, and continues today. She played for four years at Assumption High School earning numerous all-tournament team awards as well as state wide recognition, and holds the record today for most goals scored in her career on the varsity squad. She also played two years of varsity soccer at UD, and earned the title of, “Miss Fitness” two seasons in a row due to her success in the weight room. She has completed many different fitness programs including training from KORT Sports Training Center, and Velocity Training Center.  Once Lindy learned about CrossFit she was hooked, competing first at the Central East Regionals where team CrossFit Louisville East placed 7th, just one slot away from going to the finals.  She is now a consistent top 3 finisher in various CrossFit Challenges throughout the region.

Nicki Reading

Nicki Reading is a Crossfit Level 1 Certified/ CPR Certified Personal Trainer. She has over 5 years of personal training experience as well as owning her own business, Exclusive Strength, LLC. Her passion for health started early under the influence of her mom and brother with their rigorous regiment of strength and aerobic conditioning and teaching. She graduated from Louisville School of Massage in 2004 and practiced Massage Therapy for about a year at a gym, from her home, at clients homes, and at Jewish hospital before obtaining her certification for personal training. Training is in her blood and she couldn’t be kept from the gym and practiced massage and training together for a few years before going strictly to training. Along with training in gyms, Nicki also trains people in their homes, while trying to teach overall health to her clients. She offers grocery shopping and food planning/preparation to her clients. She has led bootcamps at Mt. Washington Middle School and taught fitness classes at a Women’s Health Class to Senior age girls at North Bullitt High School. She has also led bootcamps for middle school girls and women’s aerobics classes at Little Flock Baptist Church. She has done speaking engagements in schools, MOPS programs, and health fairs. Nicki has competed in figure bodybuilding, placing 4th in her division and has trained some of her female clients to compete in figure bodybuilding as well.
